Week of Oct. 20

Events:
-Oct. 27 and 30 Conferences (Student led so please bring your child.)
-Oct. 30 Fall Party

-Oct. 31 No School

Red Ribbon Week is next week.  During our guidance session next week Ms. Schiek will be discussing what it means to be drug free.
Monday- Wear red
Tuesday- “Sock it to Drugs”- wear your favorite crazy socks.
Wednesday- “E’Hawks are to cool for drugs”- school spirit day.
Thursday- “Give drugs the boot”-Wear your boots to school.

Week in Review:
-This week we continued learning about bats.  Students were amazed that bats can eat 600 mosquitoes in one hour.
-In math we have started learning how to find the missing addend by counting on.  Example: 5+_=9.  Grab 5, count 6, 7, 8, 9.  Four would be the missing number.
-During science we finished talking about mammals and started learning about birds.  We have been learning about the characteristics of birds.

Notes:
-Mrs.  Patton, the Palo Alto County Naturalist, has asked that I pass along thing information: Annual Halloween Hike at Lost Island Park is Tuesday, Oct. 28.  Call for reservations: 712-837-4866.
-As we approach colder weather please make sure your child’s name is on: winter coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, and snow boots.
