What we have been up to:
Reading: This week we worked with long /u/ words.   Our theme this week was about recycling.  We will spend more time talking about this closer to Earth Day.  Students did a great job understanding what recycling means.
Math: This week we finished Unit 5 in math.  We took our test on Friday.  We finished the unit the unit with adding teen numbers in story problems.

Science/ Social Studies: We have continued our unit on United States symbols.  Some of the symbols that we have learned about so far include the bald eagle, the U.S. flag, and the Liberty Bell.

Week in Review:
- We had a sub on Wednesday while I did testing in all of first grade.  We have made great progress since fall testing.  Tests that were conducted were: nonsense words, word segmenting, sight words, and reading an on grade level passage.
