Things to Work on:
*Work on using schema to make connections when reading. (This reminds me of…)
What we have been up to:
Reading: This week we focused on –ike, -ide, and –ine.  We spent times this week working on building our predicting skills.  This week we read a reader’s theater called “Smile, Mike!”  Reader’s theater is a good time to work on building fluency by reading something again and again.
Math: We have started Unit 5 math.  This week we learned about dimes and pennies.  We worked on grouping pennies to count by 10s.  We also practiced counting money with dimes and pennies.
Science/ Social Studies: We started a new social studies unit on meeting people.  We compared Iowa to a different country in the world.  We are learning how various cultures compare and contrast to our culture.  Some of the comparisons are: food, transportation, clothing, and holidays.
