Week in Review:

Reading: This week we learned about the /oo/ sound. We played a smartboard game and highlighted words with this sound in a book.

Math:  We have finished our study on two-digit addition.  Students took the test on Thursday with the sub and she praised them for how hard they worked.  To celebrate their hard work on Friday we had some math centers.  We worked with geoboards, straws and twist ties to make shapes, drew objects with shape templates, and used pattern blocks.

Science:  In science we have started our new unit about engineering.  We learned the definition of an engineer and technology.  We are learning about how to engineer a package to hold our plants so that they can continue growing.

Notes:
- I will have a sub on Wednesday, April 30 while I am testing all first graders in the building.
