What we have been up to:
Reading: This week we have been talking about the word families /ack/, /ap/, and /ad/.  Students were able to sort words into these categories. n We also discussed the use of punctuation at the ends of sentences.
Math: In math we have finished our first unit.  Students did very well on this.  Our next unit will focus on relating equations to story problems and to solution methods.  We will also spend some time introducing money.  Students will begin adding and subtracting money amounts.

Social Studies: This week we wrapped up our study on maps.  We spent time talking about the cardinal directions.  We also briefly introduced the importance of reducing, recycling, reusing.  We will come back to this topic later in the year around Earth Day.  We sent out our Travel Teddies and are anxiously awaiting them.
