writing neatly, and spelling word wall words correctly.
Things to
Work on:
JWork on using schema to
make connections when reading. (This reminds me of…)
What we
have been up to:
Reading: This week we focused on
–ike, -ide, and –ine. We spent times
this week working on building our predicting skills. This week we read a reader’s theater called “Smile,
Mike!” Reader’s theater is a good time
to work on building fluency by reading something again and again.
Math: This week in math we
started working on test taking skills with math skills. The test taking clues that we worked on were:
If you are not sure which answer is correct, take your best guess. Be sure the space you mark is for the answer
you think is correct. Sometimes it helps to say the pattern to yourself before
making a choice. This week we started a
new math unit on constructing picture graphs.
We worked on comparing the two items and knowing how many more/ fewer
one has than the other.
Science/ Social Studies: We started a new social
studies unit on our country. This week
we talked about George Washington and the Pledge of Allegiance. We learned about several vocabulary words:
settler, colony, freedom, flag, and pledge.
