Week in Review:
-We reread the story Make Way for Ducklings and completed a story make with a partner.  We have been focusing this week on the literary elements: characters, setting, problem, and solution.
-In math we worked a lot with solving addition story problems with a unknown addend.  Students are getting better at really listening to the whole story problem to know if they add or subtract and which numbers to add.
-In science we learned about insects.  We spent a lot of our science time this week working on our google presentations with the animal groups.
-In writing we finished the sentence starter: Save a Turkey, eat more_____.  Students then has to support their opinion with three ideas.
Notes:
- Tuesday was the first day of snow clothes and students have been doing great at quickly getting them on and off.  I have checked most of the items for names and written their initials on the ones that did not have a name.  If you purchase new pants or boots please mark them with your child’s initials.
-At school we have talked a lot about not sharing hats.  Please remind your child of this.
-The lost and found area at school is full of lots of items.  If you think your child is missing an item send them to look for it in the lost and found or stop in and look.
-With the cold temperatures and snow students need to have all their winter gear to play on the recess equipment (snow pants, snow boots, winter coat that zips, hat, and gloves.)
